I wouldn't deny my snake of all light completely, but a heat pad or heat tape can subdue rather than a basking lamp. I feel natural sunlight in the room during the day is sufficient. Its a "to each their own" sort of thing, and more what you (or what you feel your snake) prefers or likes. But in the wild, Ball Pythons prefer dark, tight places -- living in the dens of their rodent pray for days, and hunting mostly at night. [ Hide Replies ]
