Hello. i'm new to subcos ...but not snakes. have 8 total.

I have a baby trans-pecos. he's really cool! so cute....always out and about. right now i have him in a 5 gallon tank. plenty of room.

i'm using paper towels right now for substrate but was reading they like a warm, dry enclosure and recommended sand for adults.

was wondering what others use for substrate for their trans-pecos. eventually he will be housed in a 15 gallon tank. i like to make my snakes houses as natural as possible but...sand? sounds to messy. would aspen be ok? i have my corns on newpaper / paper towels. just seems easier for house cleaning. and my 7 foot jungle carpet on newspaper. my little western hognose is on aspen, however, cause he likes to burro around in it.

thanks...
