In spite of the obvious root, as far as I've been able to tell this is considered "correct" usage (albinism = amelanism).
I assume this is because it was first seen/described in humans...who's only pigment in melanin.
But, either way, it gets used prety loosely.., ----- What goes up must come down...unless it exceeds escape velocity.
