The local Craig's List ad stated that "He" was about 4 feet long. He had been kept in a 10-gallon terrarium, inside of a 60-gallon terrarium housing a larger python.

Can you imagine the discomfort & terror of the Black Rat?

Turns out that She is over 5 feet five inches!

Good news is that she now has a 60-gallon vivarium complete with rock ledge, wood pile, climbing branches, vines and rocks with lichen colonies (some maintained since 1993).

She had a slight scar under her right eye from a prior rodent bite, since treated with Betadine and almost completely healed.

She gets excercised daily, gets to climb trees and has only once lightly hissed when I surprised her when picking up. She's my best reptile companion (pet) ever. I can hardly wait for spring and more outdoor adventures.

I wish that someone would comment on my prior post about independent eye movement. This is the first time I've seen that capability in a snake.

Not able to post photos yet, until I establish a Flickr account. Until next time...
