At least what we use in the Aboreal Python world...Tipping is another color that usually creeps into another base color....
For example..in the the case of Jungle Carpet Pythons, Most are Black and Yellow Banded Snakes...well when there is yellow coloration that creeps up the sides of the Black that is what we call "Tipping"....Yellow Tipping that creeps up the areas of Black.
Some people might refer to the "Muddy" parts of say a Pastel Ball Python as "Tipping" as well. I have heard it used on Honduran Milksnakes as well, especially when it talking about the Anery Hondurans, the little black "Tipping" that creeps into the lighter areas or bands, usually as the snake ages. ----- Executive Reptiles
