I think in general BP's are a bit more docile than boas, but that’s just what I have heard. I have boas that I let my kids hold regularly (supervised) and they have never hissed or struck. I would go with a fem as my males always seem to be on the move.



That being said you need to see and interact with the boa to know if it's a calm or defensive one. I have some of each and now I can tell from when they are young. If something moves quickly in front of it and it strikes, then it may be an aggressive boa, if it jerks back then I think they are less likely to strike out later on and be calmer.



Take all that with a grain of salt. I only have 8 boas and limited experience.
