This year I produced 1.1 albino paradox. I have been told this is a random genetic occurrence which one cannot prove out genetically. However, I find it interesting that the parents of these paradox were genetically related to a paradox themselves. My 1.1 paradoxes father is a brother to a male paradox. My 1.1 paradoxes mothers was of the same parents that had the original paradox but from a different clutch so i guess that would make her a genetic sibling. The parents of my 1.1 are 66% het for albino and I bought them approximately 3 years ago when I still believed perhaps there could be a genetic link. When the eggs were incubating I found myself thinking I would be thrilled if i got an albino out of the batch now fully convinced there is no genetic link. That first egg pipped and it was an albino, boy was I happy. My daughter says to me 'ma there is something on its face"( The female has a scant amount of black scales on her face)... so of course not even thinking of a paradox and not wanting anything soiling her little yellow face I tried wiping it off. Upon looking further i noticed that it had black coloration in one of its eyes. Then it dawned on me!.....Out came the scissors I just had to peek at the rest. Another albino,a regular and lastly another paradox.
Im not sure if there is a genetic link or if it is as simple as what the hobby focuses on(dom,co-dom or rec) but any thoughts much appreciated.
Whether genetic or not I never get tired of looking at that ink black on the bright yellow, very cool.
