if they are selling hets that they've bred themselves, then they should be able to shoot you pic of the visual parent(s).
to fake sell hets for the measly price they are commanding these days would not be in anyones interest over their building a reputation.
ask for references.
i agree that paperwork can be somewhat worthless and your ad and email correspondence amount to exactly the same thing. but i have begun offering a guarantee attached to a photo of the sold animal w/a signature. this way the buyer has some legal resource to claim "hey, i bred the het female in this photo that you signed two years in a row to a visual male and i have nothing to show for it"... i think that does have some value, even if its peace of mind.
