it might sound stupid, but did you look behind its cage?

I lost my kingsnake when I was a teenager, looked EVERY where, about to give up, when sitting at my desk, i see its head poke out from behind his cage(I had a background on the tank)
I felt stupid, but was happy to find it...

Kinda like the ol' question, "Why wont my computer work!?" is it plugged in?
