Allow me to shed some light if I may.

The term "Hypo Blond" is a term which I have heard only here in Israel so far. Alon however has been abroad so I imagine there quite a few keepers who know this phrase, but it is not too wide-spread.

The more common name I encountered was "Hogg Hypo".

The terminology unto itself however is faulty since Hogg Isle Boas are not Hypo in the true sense of the word. Hypomelanism is in fact a gene which reduces the amount and intensity of Melanin. With Hogg Isle Boas that's not the case- they naturally produce less Melanin. In effect there's less black coloration, but this is not due to a defected pigment(or a simple recessive gene if you will), but a natural phenomena wide-spread in all Hoggs.

It is not a single gene, like true Hypomelanism, but rather, a trait that relies on several genes and it is the product of mating a Hogg to a Colombian BCI. Much more similiar to Pastel, in nature, than Hypo. In short, it's a matter of selective line-breeding. By the way, if Alon would be so kind as to upload a picture, it would seem that this line sometimes produces individual snakes who really resemble the original Hogg Hypo in colors.

I too do not like the term "Hogg Hypo", but that's the common name nowdays.

Hope that helps,

Oren
