No I'm not kidding . Its a spectacle not a legitimate professional sport. That's why a guy from Youtube got paid more for single fight then anybody in MMA history and Brock Lesnar who's sports background is a college wrestling career that was over nearly ten years ago, can jump in from out of no where and destroy a MMA legend. Not to mention Dana White pays celebrities more then some of the fighters to show up at the events as part of the hype. In what real professional sport do things like this happen The whole thing is a circus .
I can't see the Yankees looking on youtube for their next star. Lesnar proved he can win in the UFC but he couldn't get thru a full training camp in the NFL.
Popularity and legitimacy do not go hand in hand. Lame cookie cutter cds top the charts poorly made remakes pack theaters .The UFC is just another sign of the low standards now being excepted as quality entertainment . Also don't discount the fact that alot of MMA popularity stems from the same thing that made Zena the warrior princess a hit.
