Sometimes crummy cage shots turn out pretty ok! These COULD be better, but I'm fairly happy with them.
This is my male Cay Caulker BCI. He's second generation stock from Rio Bravo lines. In about 6 weeks, I will have had him and the female for 7 full years. They've been GREAT captives, are EXTREMELY hardy animals, and have developed into BEAUTIFUL adults. Unfortunately they don't change in color as much as they used to, but I'm pretty happy with the color and contrast that they exhibit full time.
All of my animals will utilize anything in the environment to climb and exhibit their arboreal tendencies and abilities. I've found that out of all of my animals, these guys seem to be the happiest climbing. I'm unsure whether that means they're much more arboreal than we give them credit for or something else is going on. My guess is, they LOVE the trees and bushes!
As a BCC fan, I can still appreciate all of the beauty of this, and every locale boa. IMO, a boa doesn't have to have 18 saddles S-V, peaks, pink or purple color, and a long bright red tail. They can be various shades of brown and black, have a high density pattern of almost 30 total saddles, big fat blocky saddles with no peaks, and a dark brown tail and they're STILL an amazingly gorgeous animal!
Unfortunately, cage space is at a premium so he and the female will soon depart my collection, but I've enjoyed having them and learning from them! I've become extremely sentimentally attached to them. Something that rarely happens for me. But they're just so cool I couldn't help it. Hopefully they'll live a long, healthy life wherever they go!
