Of the 15 or so Fed ex shipments I've done from Charlotte over the last 3 months, there was a 50/50 split between Memphis and Indianapolis for sorting.



I spoke with a Fed ex rep and they couldn't tell me their policy on where packages go to be sorted - I assumed they were sent to either Memphis or Indy based on destination - but they said it depended on a variety of factors including whether planes could get in to Memphis or Indy due to weather, etc.



But we reviewed my 15 shipments and for the most part, ones from Charlotte to the southeast or southwest went through Memphis and ones to the northeast went through Indy.



Fed Ex told me the best bet is to check weather in both Indy and Memphis to determine if its safe to ship.
