Yes, small gene pool compared to the vast numbers of Suriname/Guyana that have been imported and selectively bred for "light" color and crisp patterns etc. Compare to that last point the amount of "selectively" bred Peruvians that have been produced and offered.
Please recognize that what I am saying is the majority of available imported Suriname /Guyana would never meet most of the top producers qualifications and therefore were never"honed" as Top shelf. Now compare that to the amount of available Peruvians that have actually been bred in captivity.
I remember back in the 80's/ 90's purchasing many Peruvian imports and it was a gamble to see what you would end up with, more so than the "shield" B.c.c. because they out numbered the Basin boas by quite a bit and yes the colors were more predictable (my opinion)
I am not trying to turn this into a "shield" vs "basin" topic just would like to hear all opinions and experiences with the B.c.c.
