I'm rwapping up another one of my never ending projects but its a good one this time.
I framed out a reptile room in a corner of my basement. I took great care in planing it out building the walls in such a way to prevent even the smallest of escaped snakes from getting out of the room or into the tiniest crevice.
Theres two heaters for the winter and ventilation for the summer. The heat is on two separate breakers should one trip. Theres great lighting and storage with a small freezer for feeders. Windows five of them, provide viewing for friends of my kids when I'm out and the rooms locked up. Co and smoke alarms too.
Yep alot of thought and time went into building the ideal room I've wanted for so long and its just about done which is great as the holidays a the guests that come are all most here.
My house has been a mess as I have tanks and bins of displaced reptiles in other parts of my home where even I would rather they not be. I'm looking forward to moving them all back in and putting them and the rest of my home in order.
Ok...heres the problem, the smell of paint, which seems very dry, is quite evident as soon as you enter the area. I've got fans running hoping to air it out but as much as I am eager to move the snakes in I'm worried about the paint fumes doing them harm. I've used Kilz as a wall and bare wood primer, and a latex base for Drylock on the bare cinder block walls. All this has been covered with latex interior paint.
Any used this around there reps? Any feed back on how long I should wait? I figured I'd run the fans till the smell went away then heatup the room good for about two days or so. What do you think?
