I've been taking photos with an aging Nikon Coolpix4500 that might be on it's last leg. It's a 4mp camera that I've had since early/mid 2003. It's taken a LOT of great pics for me but I've been really wanting a DSLR because I've seen the high quality pics taken by various users of these forums.
So, I purchased a Canon Digital Rebel XSi. It's a 12mp DSLR. First DSLR I've ever even held without a security device attached to it in a store! lol
The sun was going down and I didn't have much time to get the animals outside and play around. I did shoot in the macro mode and without realizing it, the flash was on for most of my pics. I wasn't using the live view feature so I was looking through the view finder, that's why I didn't know the flash was on. So they turned out QUITE overexposed. A few pics turned out ok so I decided to post them here.
Holdback female from my '07 Rose litter

Salmon Jungle male from Jason Gonzalez at Premeditated Morphs. I REALLY like the blurring effect.

Sharp Sunglow produced by Big Mike! Overexposed but sadly, the best of them because of the aforementioned flash!

I've got a LOT of work to do to maximize the potential of this camera. But I'm REALLY looking forward to it!
Thanks so much to Ryan Homsey for walking me through a lot of the technical side and jargon when it comes to cameras and helping me with recommendations!
