Posted by: jhsulliv at Fri Jan 2 09:00:35 2009 [ Email Message ] [ Show All Posts by jhsulliv ] I wouldn't be using ivermectin to prevent demodex either. demodectic mange is not thought of as contagious and most dogs that contract it are either puppies that still have a naive immune system or immunocomprimised adults. Many dogs actually live with demodex on them and just do not get it because they have working immune systems. Ivermectin is NOT a benign drug and there are many reported sensitivities, mostly in herding breeds. Sarcoptic mange on the other hand does need to be prevented, but that is as simple as using monthly Frontline Plus. [ Hide Replies ]
