orangebelly is my line of proven het ivory--I named them orangbellys as the original male is very pretty and orange even as an adult compared with many yellowbellys I have seen. He tends to reproduce orangebellies when Bred. He also fathered the graphite animal which fathered the ultras and the paradox, but fully understanding the genetics is still in the works. I was just happy to reproduce two graphites this year using the graphite male. He also produced ultras in every clutch he fathered when bred to a het ivory female. Roughly 50 % ultras. As far as the graphites for this year, I kept the female and my friends Derek and Rob got the male. I know of one other person who I sold het ivory orangebelly line animals to that also produced a graphite animal, from my line. Orangebellys are still yellowbellys, just a prettier version. I strongly beleive the orange type ybs produce the graphites some how. In my opinion there are 3 types of yb balls. Very vibrant orange ones ---more yellow ones and then the dark ones. They are all very variable but all I have seen seem to fall into those 3 distinct types. My original dark female who mothered the original graphite male was very dark and unattractive, and many people years ago said she was definately not a yb. I had faith in the old girl and she proved her first breeding. Any way you slice it--ybs and ivorys are awesome to work with and one of the best things about them?--they are total chow hounds from birth to adult size. They rarely miss meals and grow quickly. I have alot of balls that feed well, but for some reason I can always count on ybs to eat regardless. I have albinos that eat great and others that are a pain--same with pastels-pieds-spiders etc, but with ybs--its like it is in there genetic makeup to be good feeders. I have talked to many other breeders and customers who agree with this being true. Any others experience with that?
