Back when I first got boas, I let them live together. The only reason I did this was because the female came with a much larger cage. They were both adults and I figured it was best to keep large boas in a large cage.
I'd seperate them for feeding. They never really seemed stressed. They never got aggressive with each other. Of course,..... I did have 1 problem...... About 8 months after I got them.....She had babies!!!!
Yep, I walked into the room one day and found a BUNCH of babies. I removed the babies and kept the adults seperate for a while. The male didn't seem very happy in a smaller cage.... So, eventually I put them back together again. Once again I went back to feeding them seperately and they seemed happy together. I figured the babies she had was just a "fluke" or maybe she was pregnant when I got her.
Things were GREAT for about 8 months....... Then when I came home one day..... ANOTHER LITTER OF BABIES!!!! That's when I realized that it probably wasn't a good idea to leave them together. I really didn't need more babies to feed and it took me "FOREVER" to find homes for the last ones.
I went out and bought him a cage the same size as hers. I'd like to say they were happier apart, but he always seemed to "look for her" from time to time.
Thinking back... It was breeding season, when he looked for her. The time they "got along" the best was breeding season. I just didn't know it back then. BTW I'm talking about 23 years ago and not much info was available for boas. LOL.
So, even though boas can be kept together...... It's best to keep them apart.
