It's actually a whole more complicated than that. It deals with individual genes that are able to synthesize melanin while others can't. It's been labled "Partial Expression of Heterzygosity", and with Boa Constrictors and Ball Pythons they are Hets not the Homozygous mutation. Sand Boas have a different type of Paradox going on.
