There aren't any "rules" that boas follow for ovulation. Sometimes you get the more "typical" football looking one. Of course, ovulations can "look" very different in some females. Laying on her side isn't a sign that normally says, "ovulation". Not sure what you mean about "twisting up". Pictures are always good, to help see what you're talking about.

If the male "lost interest" and your female is either "in shed" or has shed "after" the male lost interest..... Then the males job may be done. If the male hasn't lost interest, you should leave him in with her.
