Male breeding "moods" are driven by female pheromones. They smell a female "in heat" and they are all over her. They don't sense it they don't breed.
IMO either she ovulated and is now gravid or simply did not take. All you can do from here is wait. As long as he's OK, not trying with all his energy to get away from her, you could leave him in for a while but if no activity after a while, might as well seperate them. ----- Thanks,
