I've been curious about the CITES development referred to by USARK.
Has there been any further progress is the process for applying to CITES changed and easier now ?

CITES Captive Bred Export Permit

USFWS, PIJAC, USARK and Top Breeders met in Miami on December 12, 2008 to discuss the new Master File CITES application format. This should go down in history as a milestone event for the Reptile Community.

USFWS has set up a Master File system that will cost $200... and once issued is good for 3 years as long as there are no major changes (species, facility, address, etc.). Renewals of, or major changes to the Master File cost $100. The initial application process is expected to take 1-3 months.

Once the Master File is approved for the breeder/shipper, the actual form you will use to ship is called a Clone and they are made from the Master File at $5 each. These Clones will be used instead of the actual permit when submitting for international export. Each Clone is good for as many specimens of the species you are permitted for, and you can order as many as you need. Each Clone expires after 6 months and there is no penalty if not used.

Due to the length of permit time, the information you send is "Best Estimate" with regard to numbers of animals being shipped out of the country.

IT REALLY IS AS EASY AS IT SOUNDS!!!

The current species list is as follows:

Pythons:

Liasis childreni (Anteresia)

L. maculosaL. perthensis

Morelia spilota variegate

P. curtus

Python c. breitensteini

P.c. brongersmai

P. reticulates

P. molurus bivittatus

P. regius

P. sebae

P.s. natalensis

Boas:

Boa constrictor

B.c. imperator

B.c. melanogastor

B.c. mexicana

B.c. ortonii

Eryx j. johnii

E.j. persicus

Eunectes m. murinus

E.m. gigas

Amphibians:

Ambystoma mexicanum

They know the list is incomplete and are seeking input for additions to the list.

Thanks
