Mike gave you a great answer in relation to lines or blood lines. Now lets talk about locality. Offspring from a specific locality will normally follow traits from that locality. Animals can differ from time to time. Sometimes these are what breeders look for to line breed for different looks. Some examples below...
Val Verde County
Loma Alta - Locality produces both blair and alterna morph.
Juno Road - Locality produces both blair and alterna morph.
Langtry - Locality is mostly blair. Alterna are very rare.
Terrell County
East Sanderson, Sanderson(town), West Sanderson, North Sanderson
All produce both Alterna and Blair. (speckling occurs here)
Palma and Lozier - Mostly Blair... (Has anyone ever got an alterna morph here????)
Brewster County
South and West Alpine - Mostly Alterna morphs. (speckling and triplets)
Xmas - Blair and Alterna morphs (speckling, triplets)
Jeff Davis County
All localities - Mostly Alterna morphs. (speckling, triplets)
Crockett County
Sheffield - Both Alterna and Blair.
Hodraw - Blairs only
Pesos County
Alterna and Blairs
Presidio
Mostly Alterna morphs, very few blairs. (speckling, triplets)
Huspeth, Culberson
Mostly Alterna morphs.
There are loads of more localities. These are the well known spots.
Each locality may vary in light phase or dark phase animals.
Best Wishes,
