Is anyone aware of a disease or disorder which causes repeated failure to shed and eventual bacterial or fungal infections in/on the multiple layers of retained skin? It seems over the years I have seen a few babies and juveniles for whom this seems to be the case, and now I am faced with a large adult with the same problem. I don't believe that basic husbandry issues are the problem as that is always the first thing I check and dial in, and I am experienced in keeping/breeding them.
Basically what I have seen is that sheds either stick on, or seem to come off 1.5 layers at a time after a few layers have built up. The scales always appear and feel somewhat rough with more of a matte finish rather than the gloss of healthy scales. Again, humidity, temperatures, cleanliness, and the like are correct.
thanks,
nate.
