I had the same situation with a ball python about 6 months ago.

You might want to try a separate container. Use something smaller than the normal enclosure with opaque plastic (enough to observe somewhat but also contribute to a feeling of security) and obviously some ventilation holes. Leave a nice warm one in there and close the lid, give it about 10-15 minutes. This worked for me.
