Snake Charmer:



I bred and sold colubrids for about 10 years, then about 7 years ago I sold all of them and began to re-invest into my boa and ball python projects.



My observations have been that ball pythons are not as active while being held as boas are. Another major difference is that boas, being aboreal will actually hold onto you, where you have to hold onto ball pythons. Example: If I place a boa around my neck while cleaning its cage I know the boa will hold onto me until I am ready to phisically remove it. On the other hand if I place one of my ball pythons around my neck I am always concerned about it falling off me and landing on the floor.



Male boas will max out between 6 and 7 feet where some female boas will max out between 8 to 10 feet depending on their genetics and feeding schedule. Male ball pythons about 3 to 4 feet and females between 4 and 5 feet. There are always exceptions, but these lenghts are the rule.



I love watching boas being born and I also love it when my ball python eggs are hatching.



I feel as a snake breeder having both ball pythons and boas is very rewarding.
