Yes, very normal. Especially when his eyes go cloudy, because during this period he is essentially blind. Most snakes will tend to hang out in the same spot for about a week to ten days before their shed. He also might not eat, and some keepers recommend not even offering after the eyes go cloudy, so don't be surprised if he stops.
