It has been shown through DNA tests that the likelyhood of this population being started by released pets is extremely unlikely being there has been 2 distinct lines identified through testing. What does this say that more than likely 2 different large shipments found their way into the everglades. This along with the time that these animals began showing up in the everglades coincides with Huricane Andrew destroying a couple very large inporters facilities just outside Homestead. I will not stand here and say that burmese aren't released here in florida because they are, but these animals have not created breeding populations outside the already established everglades/big cypress parks. | ||
