The problem is that he isn't stating facts but it sounds like he is. It has been shown through DNA tests that the likelyhood of this population being started by released pets is extremely unlikely being there has been 2 distinct lines identified through testing. What does this say that more than likely 2 different large shipments found their way into the everglades. This along with the time that these animals began showing up in the everglades coincides with Huricane Andrew destroying a couple very large inporters facilities just outside Homestead. I will not stand here and say that burmese aren't released here in florida because they are, but these animals have not created breeding populations outside the already established everglades/big cypress parks.

The second part of his reply as to the climate maps is just as false as his other statement. The maps based on 100 year global warming has already been disproved by many of the country's top scientists. These animals cannot live in mountainous areas, they cannot live in agricultural areas and cannot live where there are repetitive winter freezes. There is a reason why in over a decade they still haven't made it to the upper areas of lake occachobee (sp). I will be sending my letter to sen. Nelson this comming week with these facts highlighted with actual data sited to see his reaction and will post his reply when I recieve it.
