bsarrah made a good point - don't assume what people do is always optimum.

Alot depends on the type of snake kept. A strip of 3-inch Flexwatt is plenty for a small king or milksnake, but may not be for a boa unless the room is heated as well. So it all depends.

Do what makes sense for the animal and your ambient conditions.
