If what I've told you to use has worked, than I would continue to use it for the remainder of the problem. (Did you ever get antibiotics, by the way? Or did you just use the SSD and the topical cleanser?)
And they are right. If you have treated it as we/I suggested, and the treatment helped make the scale rot improve, but has consistently came back, than something is wrong with your set-up.
