Another heat tape question.. connecting.

Quick question -- I just build a rack about 7 high and am planning on using 11" heat tape. Can you connect 1 piece of heat tape to another and then just "plug in" the last piece to the outlet/thermostat?



I saw the post below about using the walmart extension cord and the connectors.. So could I just get the extension cord and cut off both ends and hook up connector to connector and then on the last one have one side coming from another piece of heat tape and the other going in the wall?
