I don't have this problem at the momment but everyone seems to want to dump thier waifs and strays on me since I got Gretchen back up to health. This time I've been offered 2, two year old balls, unsexed, for nothing because they will not eat frozen. Their current owner bred them (by accident) and these 2 are the only 2 out of a clutch of 6 who will not eat frozen. I was hoping to get a nice fat healthy CB female who was feeding regularily on frozen but their age means if one's a female and I can get em eating I could breed faster than I could with a hatchling like Gretchen. I don't even know if she's 100% female yet as she's still a bit fragile to be probed and with the nerve damage I don't think it's worth the risk to her to breed her anyway.



So my question is - how difficult is it to get them to switch to frozen food? In the UK (where I'm from) it's pretty difficult and expensive to get live food and the law isn't very clear as to whether it is actually legal or not so naturally I'd need them on frozen ASAP. If anyone has any tips or suggestions on how to get them to eat frozen I'd be very grateful. The only one I can think of so far is feeding a live rodent and then a frozen one afterwards. Is that usually successful at getting them to switch over?



I haven't said yes or no to these snakes yet, I wanted some input from those more experienced than me as to how difficult it's going to be, how to go about it, how long it will take to switch and if they will ever feed reliably on frozen before I committed myself. In short is it worth the effort?
