When I was a kid, I remember an old farmer with goats that used pumpkin seeds. The recommended use of them can be found in most of the new age organic type animal care books. I have an old reprint of a 1800's animal herbal that talks about it also.
I don't see any reason not to feed it to the feeder mice. It is used by many tortoise breeders with good results.
