Snakes, crocodile removed from south side home A stash of exotic animals, including a five-foot Nile crocodile, a 14-foot reticulated python and four snapping turtles, were removed from a home on Milwaukee's south side Friday afternoon, officials said.
Police discovered the reptiles when they went to the residence in the 1300 block of S. 22nd St. shortly before 1:30 p.m., Milwaukee police spokeswoman Anne E. Schwartz said.
The owner of the critters was cooperative and was not cited for any violations, Schwartz said.
According to an official at the Milwaukee Area Domestic Animal Control Commission shelter, the other confiscated creatures were a 10-foot yellow anaconda, a 6-foot carpet python, a 5-foot red tail boa constrictor, a 4-foot green anaconda, a 3-foot rock python, a 3-foot Asian water monitor and a 2-foot Savannah monitor.
The animals, which were being housed at the shelter late Friday, appeared to be in good condition, though it had not been determined what would become of them, the official said.
Such animals are illegal in the city, police said. http://www.jsonline.com/news/milwaukee/42456787.html
