It's never about the animals it's about business.

It might not be anything but a shift in supply but it`s a smart calculated one. Peta and Petco started working together a while ago. Peta has a talent for turning huge profits from non profit corporations. That's how they make important friends. Its starts out as badgering then ends up a partnership.

Live animals are perishable , they need care . The fewer live animals Petco carrys the less they have to buy , the less shrink plus you can cut back employees and save on wages.

The fewer live animals Petco buys the more it hurts breeders and live animal suppliers. The happier Peta is. Thats the goal. Plus you can bet some how Peta gets a kickback.

Petco sells supplies that's where their money is. It's just as profitable for them to adopt out animals as it is to sell them.

Petco reduced the number and variety of live animals it sells and their profits and company growth were exceptional even in this economy . Their making the right moves.

"We welcome the opportunity to work with PETA as we announce ending the sale of large birds as one of several progressive steps we are taking in our industry-leading efforts," said Bruce C. Hall, PETCO President and Chief Operating Officer and President of the non-profit PETCO Foundation.
