consider, "show me dont tell me" as an approach. if we "show" our sides perspective instead of just writing about it perhaps it might shed "no pun intended" some light on our situation. To educate those that will listen and or read what we say to them is one thing, another is to show them what we are talking about. I have mentioned this to a few people already. I am suggesting a video "DVD" that shows who we are and what we are trying to accomplish with our love for these unique creatures that seem to scare people so much. Keep in mind, we love looking at our animals along with animals from other breeders. We need to convey in a manner that is not an abstract concept but instead a valid easy to understand presentation of the facts. We need to prove our points as valid and correct instead of just hoping the other side will listen and allow us to proceed.
In the age of youtube we need to use this "tool" to our advantage. Even if we produced for example a VIDEO that explained in "basic" terms the differences between pythons it might go a long way proving our point that all pythons are not the same. This is merely an example. Another words people in the media have often confused Ball Pythons with Burmese Pythons. Let's show them how wrong they are in doing so. We could have different chapters on the video which goes into detail discussing different issues that are important to us.
With this on a DVD we could send copies to all of the politicians, etc. Facts speak VERY LOUDLY and presented in a video could work in our favor STRONGLY. The news media knows this. They use video everyday. A phone call or letter does not compete with video. Consider how different the nightly news would be if it were not audio AND video. Images have more impact on people. Combined with phone calls, letters, emails we would have a rounded attack to protect that which means so much to us.
Show them AND tell them?
