Had a necropsy done by a qualified reptile vet. He said one of the rat's femurs was broken and (second one to eat) it dug into the heart while passing through, then did it again when it regurged. The heart bled out. That was obvious the next morning with an extremely enlarged heart. I've always wondered , seeing open mouths on dead rats, if the teeth could cause a problem as they went down. Vet said it was a one in a million freak accident. HAD to happen to a 9' female BH instead of one of my MackLotts..... [ Hide Replies ]
