I rescued this bull snake last night from a family that was gonna wild release her cause the kids were going to college.

She's 15 years old, maybe 4 feet, not that big for a bull snake. She looks healthy, I'm amazed. She's in a mesh cage, with carefresh bedding. I put some ecoearth in there, and put an uth on it, and put in a water bowl. But need to get her an aquarium. She came with no heating, lights, or anything. They said they fed her a mouse 4 weeks ago. So I need to get her a rat soon.

Today kind of freaked me out. Somehow I startled the poor thing, and she's been puffed and hissing and snorting for like 30 minutes now. I can't get her to calm down. Been striking at me like crazy. Everything sets her off now, she calms down for like 2 seconds and starts it all over again. Maybe with the mesh cage she can't see that there is no threat anymore, but I'm worried she'll get sick or too stressed.

Thanks for any advice. It'd be greatly appreciated.
