Breeding is the only affordable way
in the future, it might be possible to do a DNA test, but not before the ball python genome have been analysed and then you would need ot know where and what type of chromosome to test.
When we come to this, the ball python market will be satured and a possible won't be worth the money to test. Would be less expensive to buy the het or the phase itself. (That part is my opinion and how I see it).
there is also the "marking" of some het but I wouldn't trust that.
