how vital is it...

...to check on the eggs? I got my first clutch of eggs ever and I'm very excited but how often are you supposed to open the incubator and check them? Is it neccesary to get fresh air in there all the time or can they sit the entire time without being disturbed. And what about mom? When can I feed her again?
