You might want to seal the box with saranwrap or press-n-seal before putting the lid on to avoid that air getting in you mentioned. I prefer to take the lid off (and the sealing wrap) once a week to give the eggs fresh air and wipe off any condensation off the walls and especially off the eggs if they get dripped on while doing this process. Just my two cents.
