So I decided to conduct some serious research to determine if a person can successfully imitate Pits.

1) Looking Cute While Hissing
My San Diego Gopher hisses regularly. At 10 inches long it's quite amusing to hear her act tough. So I decided to replicate this behavior in a public setting to see if I could also look cute while hissing.
At 5'10" with a shaved head and beard, my hissing was taken as a sign of aggression/lunacy. I was avoided and possibly worried more than a few mothers.

2) Rattling the tail.
Both the San Diego and the Sanoran do this from time to time and it makes a cool sound so I decided to try it out myself.
Since I don't have a tail, I just shook my ass on some dry leaves. This was not comfortable and it didn't produce a buzzing sound.

3) Hissing While Eating.
Every time I feed my Ghost Sanoran Gopher he hisses. He never hisses at any other time, only while eating. I thought that maybe this was somehow enjoyable to him so I decided to test it out and see how it felt to a human.
DO NOT DO THIS! Rice can shoot several feet out of a human nose while simultaneously lodging a few grains in your sinuses that provide severe discomfort and take a few minutes of snorting and making strange faces to remove.

There you have it. There's at least 3 things that Pits can do that people can't. Hope you enjoyed the results of my 'scientific' study.
