I select the ones without too much broken-egg content on them. In my case, I rip/cut out the contaminated areas. This is for my roach colonies. Another method would be to sterilize them by heating in an oven--similar to sterilizing driftwood. Make sure that the temp is around 250 degrees & bake for 15-20 minutes. It's important to keep an eye on the crating to make sure it doesn't smoke or burn. Let it cool afterwards & it should work fine. This eliminates the chance for salmonella or other pathogens. | ||
