African Rhino's would be more in line as a name BUT having said that there is a HUGE difference between the W. African Rhino's and the so called Ituri Forest ones. The BIG difference is that adults HOLD their color and the blue and red color is MUCH more intense. In fact sometimes specimens fron the Congo and surrounding areas have a LOT more blue than the W. African snakes. It is NOT a name made up but rather a trade name for a different locale of Rhino Viper. The ones from the far eastern part of the range are not as nice as ones from Zaire, Democratic Republic of the Congo, and the Central African Republic. An exception are snakes coming from the Impenetrable Forest area in Uganda. Make NO mistake they are a very different and exceptionally beautiful locale specific Rhino and YES they do occur in the Ituri Forest hence the name use. Back in the day we got them more frequently than now but even then never in any numbers. Most Rhino's today originate from Ghana or Togo and as those snakes mature they lose much of their color but the Ituri Forest actually IMPROVE with age..... | ||
