I have always been surprised at how rarely glass shops recommend saftey and/or tempered glass and somehow I doubt that they would recommend it for the size you mentioned. However, it's your peace of mind that matters.



For what it is worth, I have heard that you can have clear window film applied to glass and that will give it some of the strength advantages of safety glass. I don't know what kind of film, how much it costs or where to get it, however. But it's worth looking into since you already have the glass panels.
