Jeff, I asked the same question earlier. Here's the answer he gave me:

"i use coco coir exclusively in my entire collection. it's a bit messy at times but it keeps humidity extremely well and doesn't mold so quickly.

not to mention it looks a lot like dirt. it's the closest thing i can give the snakes besides the actual thing. for living in a rack 24/7 it's the least i can do for them.
