This group of pits most definitely has one of the more complex color schemes of the colubrids. It is interesting that jani are found in the same locale of L. m. thayeri also known as the variable kingsnake.........something in the water or soil, maybe???? You can get a lot of different looking animals right out of the same clutch with both of these species.
