If there was indeed an attack and an attempt to consume the child, there would be undeniable evidence of saliva containing digestive enzymes in conjunction with any bite marks. More than likely there would be such evidence on the crown of the infant's head, Although it is possible the snake may have started swallowing a limb first. Don't know if the autopsy report confirmed any of this or not. Anyone know?
Just from what I've heard, I think it probably did happen, but the responsibility should clearly rest with the parents.
